There are standard speed limits in the Netherlands (unless otherwise stated by traffic signs).
Speed limits for motorcycles and passenger cars (up to 3t):

| on a highway | 130 km/h |
Speed limits for passenger cars with trailers and vans:

Speed limits for vehicles with trailers, busses and trucks above 3 t:

The minimum allowed speed of driving on a highway is 60 km/h.In case of offense the fine is € 360.
Since 1 March 2011 on certain motorway sections the maximum speed limit was increased to the 130 km/h, as experiment investigated the impact on the infrastructure, traffic safety and the environment.

A7 Wognum - Zurich
A6 Almere Buiten-Oost - Joure
A16 Moerdijk - Breda
A2 Everdingen - Deil
A17 Moerdijk - Bergen op Zoom
A58 Bergen op Zoom - Vlissingen
A32 Steenwijk - Heerenveen
A37 Hoogeveen - Klazienaveen
In addition, since July 1, 2012 the maximum speed on the roads sections in the vicinity of large cities increased from 80 km/h to 100 km/h.
Speed Cameras
In the Netherlands, there are many permanent speed cameras, which take pictures of vehicles that do not observe speed limits.
Also several average velocity measurement system on long distances are placed on the 12 main highways. If the average speed is higher than the maximum allowed, the driver will receive a penalty for the offence.
