There are standard speed limits in Germany (unless otherwise stated by traffic signs).
Speed limits for motorcycles and passenger cars (up to 3t):
| in populated areas | 50 km/h |
| outside populated areas | 100 km/h |
| on a highway | 130 km/h (recommended) |
Speed limits for vehicles with trailers:
| in populated areas | 50 km/h |
| outside populated areas | 80 km/h |
| on a highway | 80 km/h |
Vehicles with maximum speed (because of the technical characteristics) up to 60 km/h are not allowed to move on highway.
The maximum permitted speed of movement for vehicles equipped with snow chains, is no more than 50 km/h.
