The use of safety seat belts, while driving in France, is mandatory for the driver and the passengers (even for the passengers in the rear seats).
If there are children in the car they must use the child seat or appropriate child restrain system suitable for their weight.
The fine is € 135.
Exemptions are allowed only for:
- people whose shape prevents them from using seat belts
- people exempt for medical reasons
- taxi drivers on duty
- priority vehicles
- public service vehicles making frequent stops
- delivery businesses making frequent stops
