Toll rates and taxes in Slovenia 2026 Slovenia

Last update: January 2026

Slovenia is a vital transit hub for travelers heading toward Italy, Austria, or Croatia. For 2026, the country continues to use its fully **digital vignette system (E-vinjeta)**. Physical stickers are a thing of the past—your toll access is linked directly to your vehicle's license plate.

E-Vignette Prices for 2026
Prices are categorized into three classes based on the type of vehicle. For passenger cars, the key factor is the height above the front axle (1.30 m).

| Validity | Class 1 (Motorcycles) | Class 2A (Cars & Motorhomes)* | Class 2B (Large Vans)** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **7-Day** | €8.00 | **€16.00** | €32.00 |
| **Monthly** | - | **€32.00** | €64.10 |
| **6-Month** | €32.00 | - | - |
| **Annual** | €58.70 | **€117.50** | €235.00 |

Class 2A: Includes cars, SUVs, and pickups with a height above the front axle of up to 1.30 m, and **all motorhomes** regardless of their height.
Class 2B: Includes vehicles with a height above the front axle of 1.30 m or more (most standard cargo vans and large passenger transporters).

Karawanke Tunnel (Slovenia – Austria)
It is important to note that the E-vignette **does not cover** the Karawanke Tunnel. This passage requires a separate toll paid at the toll booth (cash/card) or online in advance.

2026 Price: €8.20 for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
Point Card: Frequent travelers can purchase a card for 14 trips for approximately €35.00, valid for 30 days.

Where to Buy the E-Vignette?
1. Official Portal: The most reliable way is through [evinjeta.dars.si](https://evinjeta.dars.si).
2. Gas Stations: You can purchase the digital vignette at border crossings and major gas stations (Petrol, OMV, MOL).
3. Activation: You can choose a start date up to 30 days in advance. The annual vignette is no longer tied to the calendar year; it is valid for 12 months from your chosen start date.

Important Updates and Zones
H5 and H6 (Koper): As of January 1, 2026, certain sections of the H5 and H6 expressways around Koper are temporarily exempt from the vignette requirement until the new Koper-Dragona motorway is completed.
Enforcement: Slovenia uses a high-tech camera system across the motorway network. Fines for driving without a valid E-vignette range from €300 to €800.

Heavy Vehicles (Over 3.5 Tonnes)
Trucks and buses over 3.5 tonnes must use the DarsGo system. This requires an on-board unit (OBU) installed in the vehicle. The toll is calculated based on distance traveled, the number of axles, and the engine's EURO emission class.
