Toll rates and taxes in Czech Republic 2026 Czech Republic

Last update: January 2026

If you are planning a trip through the Czech Republic, it is important to know that the country uses a fully electronic vignette system for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and a satellite-based toll system for heavier vehicles.

Who needs an electronic vignette?
All motor vehicles with at least four wheels and a maximum authorized mass of 3.5 tonnes must have a valid electronic vignette to use designated motorways.
- Mandatory for: All four-wheeled vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of up to 3.5 tonnes (check your vehicle registration document – trailers are not included in this weight).
- Exemptions: Motorcycles, fully electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles (register for free exemption at edalnice.cz), towed trailers, and certain special vehicles (e.g., for persons with disabilities – expanded list as of January 2021).
- Heavy Vehicles (>3.5 tonnes): These use a remote-based electronic system via mytocz.eu. Prices depend on distance traveled, emissions, and number of axles.

Toll sections are clearly marked with "Highway" or "Road Car" signs. Free sections include an additional sign with the text "BEZ POPLATKU" (No Charge).

- Registration: Performed at mytocz.eu.

Fines and Enforcement
Monitoring is conducted via cameras on highway gantries and by police and customs patrols. - Driving without a vignette: On-the-spot fine of up to 5,000 CZK, and up to 20,000 CZK in administrative proceedings.
